Springing into their new chapter - Meg and Rich

How did you hear about The Oaks?
I first heard about the oaks via Instagram, their feed was full of pics and I saw everything I was looking for in a venue. I then went over to the website but noticed you were not yet able to have a ceremony performed by a registrar but was encouraged to wait as they had noted to ‘watch this space’! Me and Rich were more than happy to wait for the perfect venue. As soon as you could have your wedding ceremony and reception all under the one roof at The Oaks, we got in contact and booked a viewing!

When we first visited The Oaks, as soon as we walked in . . . I got this really nice warm feeling. I loved the rustic vibe and we just knew this is where we wanted to get married.

After that, we attended every wedding fayre The Oaks hosted. Bringing our family with us as who doesn’t love a cake sample or two?! (Thank you Debbie of Iced Maiden Cake Couture for the best cake we have ever tasted). We met incredible suppliers at each fayre, they gave us planning inspiration and we ended up booking quite a few suppliers through attending the fayres.

Tell us about your wedding décor

We wanted our décor to really complement The Oaks and bring out the amazing wood features they have. Getting married in March seemed the perfect opportunity to have lots of beautiful spring bulbs, twigs and ivy. We wanted that classic natural rustic look which I think suited the venue perfectly. We chose navy and burgundy as our wedding colours as it really complements the wooden interior.

We made use of The Oaks décor packages including my favourite: The Bridal Boutique room! We also had the candle & lantern package and one of the many drinks packages available.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

This is a tough one to answer as so many bits spring to mind like getting ready with my bridal party in the morning, especially seeing how beautiful and happy my mum was having her hair and make-up done. Also, with getting ready in the bridal prep room, it was so nice seeing the venue so peaceful and ready before all the madness of the day started. The three speeches stand out to me, I loved them all and cried at all three. My dad, Rich and best man Jack all did a perfect job. Our day was honestly everything I had hoped for and more and it’s thanks to my amazing family, The Oaks team and the amazing suppliers that brought our vision to life.
